Owner unveils vision for Heights-area farmers market

The new owner of the farmers market on Airline has unveiled its vision for the property in an animated rendering that shows new restaurants with outdoor seating, a park-like greenspace and playground, along with dozens of produce stalls in an open-air development.

Construction on the coming changes will begin this spring, according to MLB Capital Partners, which bought the nearly 18-acre property last May and announced a major transformation for the market.

Aside from new merchants and culinary products, the existing facilities will be renovated and new ones will be added. Upgrades will be made to parking, traffic circulation, sidewalks and landscaping.

MLB has enlisted a team of consultants to work on the project, including chef and restaurateurs Chris Shepherd and Kevin Floyd, Clark Condon Associates; Studio RED Architects; Gunda Corp. and Arch-Con Construction.
